The dates for Kindergarten orientation and the first day of Kindergarten will be as follows: 

Kindergarten Orientation:  August 26^th and August 27^th

First Day of School for Kindergarten:  August 28^th

More information will be coming from your child's school-information will be mailed out on July 28^th

These dates have all been pushed back one day-on the original calendar, orientation was scheduled for August 27^th and August 28^th and the first day was scheduled for the 29^th.

DISTRICT REPORT CARD RESULTS

• The West Warwick Public Schools met 36 of 37 accountability targets at the elementary school level.

• The West Warwick Public Schools met 36 of 37 accountability targets at the middle school level.

• The West Warwick Public Schools met 35 of 37 accountability targets at the high school level.

STATE ASSESSMENT RESULTS

• The West Warwick Public Schools demonstrated significant improvement in the area of reading at all grade levels.

• The West Warwick Public Schools demonstrated moderate improvement in the area of mathematics.

• The West Warwick Public Schools did not demonstrate improvement in the area of writing.

In reflecting upon this information, our recent focus on reading (as detailed in the 2004-2006 District Improvement Plan) has indeed "paid off."

In addition, our teachers are currently involved in professional development activities focused in the areas of mathematics and writing instruction.
